It is important to note that Americans are obsessed with dressing and other condiments. Mayo, mustard, ketchup, relish, you name it. So while no, we don’t put butter on our sandwiches, we usually put SOMETHING on them unless it’s 3 in the morning and we just can’t be bothered to put more effort than folding a slice of bread around some ham and cheese.
