depends. Not all merchants have the tap machine but tap will never be more than $50-100, except at groceries. Otherwise you slide your card in, not swipe there’s a chip in it, similar to a phone SIN card actually, type your pin and boom! I haven’t had to swipe my card at all. But you can still go to the states and swipe it.
