McQ wasn’t bad, certainly better than Wayne’s other foray into modern storytelling with The Green Berets. Here it’s more “I shouldn’t have turned down Dirty Harry.” There’s some Neo-Noir aspects to McQ in part with Diana Muldaur’s voice, David Huddleston who looks a lot like Nero Wolf, and the soundtrack play to a much older movie. 

Still on the formulaic side, I mean there’s clear allusions to Bullitt (other parts of the soundtrack along with McQ’s car which is reminiscent of McQueen’s mustang).
