I was thinking about the word hotel, in French and English. Both mean the same thing essentially, you can ask for a hotel in both languages using the same word and you’ll be understood. Except in the case of City Hall, where that translates to “Hotel de Ville.” Anyway I was thinking this because Popeye Doyle is in Marseilles and now at the “Hotel de Police”, which I guess hotel in this case means hall (or possibly plaza). While we have Hotel de Ville in Canadian French I’m pretty sure we don’t have Hotel de Police.
