The Japanese are not the only people who have been trying to raise a robot army. Garco was an early attempt at a mechanized man built in the 1950s by inventor Harvey Chapman. It didn’t manage to enslave humankind but Garco did become quite the celebrity. Maybe if we just shower the robot overlords with attention and introduce them to athletes and models then they’ll be our friends.
