Kirk Alyn portrayed the first screen Man of Steel in two movie serials, “Superman” (1948) and “Atom Man versus Superman (1950).
Alyn started is acting career on Broadway and Vaudeville before heading to Hollywood. In addition to Superman, he portrayed another comic hero - Blackhawk - in another serial in 1952.
Kirk Alyn appeared in the Donner/Reeve “Superman” film in 1978 in a scene in the extended edition. He played young Lois Lane’s father in the train scene.
