If you were looking for THE man to blame for the wave of increasing wave of islamophobia that’s been washing across Québec and Canada for the last years, that’s him - that’s THE man. He was the one behind the Hérouxville’s “Code de Vie” which sparked the whole debate on reasonable accomodations, “barbaric cultural practices”, and the likes, which led to the Bouchard-Taylor inquiry across my province, the “Québec Charter of Values” of the PQ, and the rise of hate crimes against muslims in Québec since the mid-2000s; he’s the one who got the ball rolling and made it A-OK for Canadian politicians to publicly attack muslim minorities across the province, and the country.

Here’s a man who’s happy that the niqab is an issue in this election; a man who stands behind Harper and the Conservative brand of “Canadian Values”; a man who will happily ally himself with the FRONT NATIONAL, the BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY, and PEGIDA. A man who claims that these groups have legitimate concerns that mainstream politicians do not want to address.

His words:

“Canada, because of multiculturalism, has lost its bearings.”

“[The Front National and the British National Party] are people I communicate with several times a day. The Front National has 28 per cent support in France and it is rising every day. And look at PEGIDA (the anti-immigrant movement) in Germany. PEGIDA must be 10 times the size of the Front National now. The people have an opinion that the politicians do not respect.”

“It isn’t about the economy, it isn’t about jobs, […] it’s about Canadian values and people realize, with all that is happening in other countries, and I think the efforts we have made in the network, people are beginning to say, maybe it’s true. That is why I am very satisfied with that is happening now at the federal level. Very satisfied.”

“[There are] maybe 200 women with niqabs in Montreal, but even if it was one, it would be one too many.”

no no no, theres a difference between islamophobia and just wanting your own countries rules to be followed. You wouldn’t go to Saudi Arabia and try to tell their government to change because you don’t wanna follow their rules, why do they think they can come to places like Canada and change ours?

Whats the point in coming to Canada if you’re not going to change and adapt to this country? Like really. We’re losing a lot of Canadian values because religious tolerance has gone too far. Especially if an employer has to cater to you over stupidity.

There is nothing illegal in Canada about the wearing of the Niqab. So I don’t see what ‘rules’ are being broken. The judge recently ruled that the government was wrong in trying to institute this ban, and that it went against the Charter of Rights and freedoms.

‘Canadian values’? Please.

CanadaPoliticsCanadian Polticsapparently people are up and arms about the issue
