THE BEATLES HAD PLANS FOR A LORD OF THE RINGS FILM THAT THEY HOPED WOULD BE DIRECTED BY STANLEY KUBRICK. THE PROJECT FELL THROUGH BECAUSE KUBRICK BELIEVED THE TRILOGY TO BE UNFILMABLE, AND TOLKIEN WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE BEATLES PLAYING HIS CHARACTERS.
