Lin grew up watching TOS. He loves Trek, and even through the action in the trailer, you can clearly see that it’s basically a longer TOS episode with a high-budget and a modern fast-paced look to it.

The way the haters reacted by spamming with bashing posts and mass-thumb-down campaigns was utterly childish and unfair.
(They try to make up for the fact that they’re a small minority of the fandom by being as loud and cruel as they can, like when they spammed the official Nimoy memorial posts with anti-reboot hate. Haters are not real Trekkies, far from it.)

The hate is unfair, even more so considering that the movie seems to touch upon much deeper themes than haters are claiming.
Such as whether Starfleet is justified in doing deep space exploration and colonies in distant planets, and at what point might others consider  that crosses the line and becomes colonial imperialism in a foreign territory, resulting in “the frontier pushes back!” Deeply TOS themes.
