Flying squirrels are THE BEST. The ones we have here in Alaska don’t quite look like this – they have those enormous lemur eyes, but they are a darker gray with a fluffier tail; imho they’re actually even cuter:
Last summer my parents had a pair coming to their bird feeder, which I discovered when I visited them because it was right outside the window of the room I was staying in, so I would hear the squirrels skittering around in the middle of the night. (They’re nocturnal.) When the skittering woke me up at 2 a.m., I would get up to watch the squirrels for awhile. They are scared away by electric lights, but in Alaska it’s light all night in June, so I could see them just fine.
