Dubbed ‘The Banksy of Bulgaria’, an anonymous artist transformed the statue in Sofia’s town square honoring the Red Army’s advance on Nazi-allied Bulgaria during World War II into comic book heroes and fantasy figures such as Ronald McDonald, Father Christmas and the Joker.
