It was claimed that hens had been brought here by the Vikings, and that they had hostile feelings towards the Irish people. This was what caused them to continually scrape on the kitchen floor, in an attempt to set the house on fire. They made preparations each night to return to Scandinavia, but in the morning forgot all their plans.
