Genevieve O’Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma in the upcoming movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, also played the character in deleted scenes from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith:
Yay continuity!

Those scenes are also important because they show how Padmé, Bail and Mon tried to begin a resistance from within the Senate; they show us what Padmé and her friends were working to do and make it a lot clearer what the Rebellion’s initial power base and organisation was.
YES! One of the (many) things I like about the Revenge of the Sith novelization is how much clearer it is that Palpatine sows distrust in Anakin against Padme, not just because it makes it easier to turn him, but because Palpatine wants Padme dead to eliminate her as a political threat. She’s one of the few senators with the sheer popularity to make a principled stand against Palpatine’s power. Like, imagine Padme surviving with the twins, escaping to Naboo (Palpatine’s home planet!) and rallying systems against the Empire with Obi-Wan, Yoda, Bail Organa and Mon Mothma.
