A quick tie-in novel I bought a dozen years ago I think, I got around to reading it recently and three things stand out:

1) The fighters were bio-mechanical. there’s pores or hair follicles on the armour.

2) The exosuits weren’t designed, they’re literally the hollowed-out shells of another race they conquered, and it still has some memories of itself it seems.

3) Really pushing the egyptian angle again (I remember Devlin and Emmerich  really wanted this and Stargate to connect together) complete with an ankh as the central part of a power source.

Aside from that, it’s about what you’d expect from a tie-in novel from the 90s. The Prologue which is set after the movie isn’t revisited which is a shame because there was another alien race found working in the saucers. The rest of the book was…passable, not outright bad just shruggable with a lot of digression.
