The X-Files was left off Fox’s 2016/2017 programming schedule, but that doesn’t mean the series will end on a cliffhanger. During a conference call with reporters, Fox co-TV chief Dana Walden confirmed negotiations for another installment are ongoing, mostly likely targeting an early 2018 premiere.
The network is in talks with Chris Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson about the prospect of returning to shoot more episodes after the six-episode revival debuted to strong ratings in January.
“Everyone is on board to do another installment,” Walden said. “At this time next year we’ll have something exciting on the X-Files front.”
