Tonight’s Rewatch!

I first saw STG in theatres when it came out and I’d just turned 12. Pretty exciting as Star Trek was cresting a high point around this time. I remember the long lineups, the fact that my mom’s friend had of course gotten tickets for me, him and his friend who drove (and remember very clearly the passenger side mirror getting clipped off bc a car was parked too far off the edge and he kind of turned white but refrained from launching into a profanity-laiden curse bc I was in the car). I don’t know if this was the first Star Trek I’d seen in theatres, I might have seen 6 but I can’t remember (however I did rent it a lot until I could buy it on vhs). I don’t remember much about my feelings on seeing the film but I remember a lot of people were disappointed in Kirk’s death and Harriman.

I also had a copy of the original script he’d obtained, and pored over it meticulously including the deleted scenes of the suborbital jump, the nanoprobes…

Later when I got the VHS I got the one that had the hologram on the box (I’m pretty sure, I know FC had the hologram).
