Gene Roddenberry and Peter Duryea behind the scenes on the original pilot, “The Cage”. Duryea played Lt. Jose Tyler; and some are wondering if the Lt. Tyler being played in Discovery by Shazad Latif is meant to be the same character, or if its just coincidence. (Discovery writers assistant Tyler Dinucci intimated on twitter the name is in honor of him, but it’s not clear if that’s serious 😉)
