J.R.R. Tolkien is not your GM.

cheskamouse

I have played RPGs for roughly 30+ years.

I used to own the original Red Box D&D starter set back from the 70s. It was actually a salmon color.. but what ever.

One thing I grew sick of is the Tolkien tropes that glutted the game.

Dwarves live in the earth, hate Elves, and are greedy.

Elves live in Trees, have a staff up their ass, and prance and flitter about.

Humans are pretty ok if a bit dumb.

all orcs want to eat your face.

Halflings are silly, cute, and mostly harmless.

Because stereotypes are Fun!

My Dwarves: Live where they want within the context of the land and law… or outside it for bandits.

Elves have lived to long to devolve into assholes.. seriously.. their not stupid and can see how each other act.

Orcs, Have you tasted a face? and the person with that face wants to go Murder Hobo on your ass.. Goats, Pigs, and Cows are so much easier to raise and less inclined to murder you back.

Halflings will fuck you up if you give them reason to..just because their short doesn’t mean they can’t

Absolutely an important thing to remember.
