trenchmints
F-100Ds of the 481st Tactical Fighter Squadron over South Vietnam in February 1966. Early F-100s were unpainted when they arrived in Southeast Asia like the foreground aircraft, but all eventually received camouflage paint like the aircraft in the back. Whatever paint was applied never lasted long on the titanium of the rear fuselage. The intense heat from the J57 engine caused it to blister and flake off after a short time.
