#daybreakers #continues to be one of my fave recent takes on the vampire genre #like what if vampirism was a) as easily and prosaically caught as zombie-ism #and b) everyone just kind of adapted #and you’re like ‘cool vampire planet’ #but then like every conversation about that you get to ‘but what do they eat when people run out’ pretty quick #and yeah they get there pretty quick #and then shit goes SIDEWAYS #so like the actual vampirism is not the horror #the horror is recourse scarcity and our own usual bullshit #but like with good glowy eye noir self-hating detective vibes #and half the cast of australian 90’s soap tv #and sam neill?? and willem defoe?? #it’s
