legit: this is a shitty, toxic standard to set. no one is obligate to be on call to you 24/7. No one is obligated to text back immediately. This is a new etiquette standard being set by young people (I’m 29 and my peers do NOT think this) and it’s not healthy. Sleep is essential for health. Sleep is ESSENTIAL for health, physical and mental. People are allowed to have boundaries, to be alone, to not feel that at any moment their time will be DEMANDED by another. If you aren’t feeling safe and need a friend to be on call, ask them! But this should not – cannot – be a base level expectation.
