The First Queen of Great Britain - Queen Anne (1665–1714)
The last of the Stuart monarchs, Queen Anne’s reign was marked by the union of England and Scotland(1707) and the War of Spanish Succession. Her life was plagued with heartbreak and illness. She lost 17 children, with 12 being miscarriages. Along with not having a living heir, she was constantly in ill health. Accurate to the film, Sarah Churchill was a lifelong confidant of the Queen, often seen as a pseudo-ruler for the Queen in her poor health. She would be by the Queen’s side till their falling out in 1711.
