i really love being someone who studies history on tumblr because the way some people talk about history on here is fucking WILD and hearing history discussed with tumblr terminology will never not be hilarious to me. there’s absolutely no nuance on this site and i love it. one time i got a message asking me if julius caesar ever did anything problematic and i think about it every single day of my life

You’re right and you should say it. I once got asked if it was ok to like Thutmosis III because he’d done problematic stuff like…start wars.
Alternatively, I just watched a video done by a blog on Tumblr about Egypt’s lack of Empire and why they didn’t have one. I’m now staring at a load bearing wall, hoping it comes crashing down on me because they literally cinnamon roll’d Egypt’s actual expansion and invasion of other areas as ‘for economic gain and stability’ and justified it by saying that they never imposed their culture on the conquered civilisations.
