In Japanese folklore, the Bakezōri is a type of tsukumogami that comes from a zōri, a traditional thonged sandal most often made of rice straw or wood, or in modern times, synthetic materials.
The Bakezōri is often depicted as a sandal with arms, legs and a single, staring eye. It is a known pest, said to run around the house at night chanting loudly. They will often torment people out of boredom or jealousy.
