Am I the only one who doesn’t like the cover of the upcoming collectible 4K Ultra HD Chernobyl release (coming out December 1st, 2020)?
I find myself unable to connect with it, aesthetically or emotionally. The Munch’s theme seems out of place, and the way it conveys isolation and terrible loneliness clashes with the intimate realism of the series and the closeness we feel to even the most episodic of its characters.
Oh THAT was the thing, how un-Chernobyl like, no wonder I didn’t give it a second look. What does Munch have to do with anything? Also, are we getting new material yes or no??

@litttlesilkworm not to mention that it has no emotional connection with the series unlike the mosaic arts. By seeing it, we remember the solemn narration, plant workers, Ulana sleeping at her office of Saturday morning & that cute-nerd-twink Dmitri, and sleepy Valery stumbling out of bed & Boris yelling on the phone ♥️.

@litttlesilkworm as a Tumblr meme, it’s passable but as official arts is lamentable.

@drunkardonjunkyard the mosaic idea is wonderful! I am loving it so much. It would have worked perfectly!

@johnlockismyreligion I agree! I thought exactly that, too, that it was a meme turned into a cover - up until the point Mazin posted it himself on his twitter. I can totally imagine Renck cringing at this, it is so far off the show’s aesthetic…

It almost looks like a meme from Tumblr, honestly. The first blu-ray set is way better.

@litttlesilkworm I’d rather them using that mosaic arts in the beginning of eps 2, really beautiful arts & it connects to the series

@alyeen1 @drunkardonjunkyard I don’t know why they have to be so stingy about deleted scenes!
drunkardonjunkyard said:
@alyeen1 IKR! at least those unused scene, like the Misha scene.

@drunkardonjunkyard It seems so, seeing that it’ll not have any deleted scenes etc 😭
