Maybe what makes Star Trek so good and so meaningful is that it isn't afraid to go there. And by 'there' i mean the depths of human suffering (losing a child, fighting on the front lines, being an emergency medic) and I also mean 'there' as in the weirdest and strangest depths of human imagination (fuc*ing grannies boyfriends ghost, turning into a salamander, turning into a pile of goo every night so you can sleep in your bucket)
