real talk can paramount start cutting spocks bangs at a curve again instead of cutting it in a straight line?

The problem is, the ST people need to go back to the source. Not just how Nimoy’s hair was styled, but the style his hair was based on:
That’s Vidal Sassoon cutting Mary Quant’s hair in 1964. There’s the inspiration for the iconic pointy sideburns. They took that style and adapted it not just for a male, but for Nimoy’s particular face and bone structure. Nimoy has beautiful cheekbones, which is exactly what you need to pull this look off: good eyes, good cheekbones and jawline. A long neck doesn’t hurt either.
They shortened the bangs to both masculinize the style and allow the upswept eyebrows to be seen, and cut it closer to the skull (reduced the volume). with the result of something that was both familiar and totally alien, flamboyant (at the time) and utterly controlled. Just like Spock himself.
The problem is that subsequent Trek stylists haven’t gone back to the source and studied what makes this cut work and most importantly how to adapt it for different face shapes, bone structures, etc. They just slap a wig on a guy, cut to formula and let it go at that. It’s easier, but the result is awful.
ZQ’s hair in Beyond is awful. It’s precise, but it’s too puffy and “heavy” looking. All that volume and the straight-cut bangs looks great on Mary Quant because it softens and balances her rather long jaw, but it sucks on ZQ because he doesn’t need his jawline and bone structure softened. It also changes the shape of his head and takes the emphasis off where it needs to be to get that exotic Vulcan look: eyes and cheekbones.
So yeah, curve the bangs, definitely. But also stop using those wigs. It doesn’t work.
