I like Phlox because he is truly just Some Guy. There's nothing ultra special about him like he's not the son of a planetary leader or an important historical figure on Denobula or reconciling with his Denobulan heritage or whatever, he's just a normal cultural exchange student, a tourist among humans. He doesn't want to Be one or to Not be one, he just wants to hang out and learn about humanity and then go back home to Denobula to his extended family. Love it
