THE X-FILES premiered 28 years ago today, on September 10th 1993.
It originally ran for nine seasons and returned for a tenth and eleventh season in 2016 and 2018. A total of 218 episodes, as well as two feature films have been released. The show generally received critical acclaim, including 16 primetime Emmy wins, and is considered to be a popcultural phenomenon which revolutionised fan culture and the fundamentals of the television landscape.
