A lot of Fallout fans tend to forget that the Followers of the Apocalypse are first and foremost a collective of anarchist doctors/ other nerds whose only real governing doctrine is mutual aid.

Like this isn't meant as a dig. Writers and audiences rarely have a good handle on what anarchism is, which is why I think having a 'faction' without an easily-parsed social structure or set of laws beyond "learn, teach, do no harm" results in so much confusion.

They aren't missionaries, they don't have centralized leadership, they are not militaristic, or staunch pacifists. They're a voluntary collective labelled 'radicals' by the NCR for opposing their imperialism. The extent of their influence is running a field hospital + sending small groups into the wasteland to find and share new knowledge.
