The Final Countdown (1980)

Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz is caught in a mysterious electrical storm in the Pacific and finds itself transported back in time to 1941 - just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The captain has to decide whether to strike at the approaching Japanese fleet, that could forever change the course of history or let them attack Pearl Harbor as written in history.

One of those shows like Top Gun (1986), Flight of the Intruder (1991) and Iron Eagle (1986) that doesn’t use heavy special effects for its aerobatic scenes and uses actual fighter aircrafts, which makes watching this a very pleasant experience.

Some things cannot be replaced by modern technology. One reason Jurassic Park (1993) feels more real than Jurassic World (2015), as they uses animatronics for its dinosaurs instead of CGIs.

The Final Countdownthe story def needed some workbut having use of nimitz and her crew/hardware made up for some of itand launched at least one book series
