“Nearly a decade ago a group of downtown businessmen, casino operators and property owners met with officials of the Nevada State Highway Department. This super structured “Committee of 100” of the greater Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce assisted in planning the locations of the various routes, interchanges, and expressways linking the Interstate 15 Freeway system. Now, some ten years later, the results of that series of meetings are rewarded with the dedication and opening of the Downtown Expressway. - Review Journal, 9/24/70
