very interesting to take outrage over a more inclusive flag at its word lol and by “interesting” i mean question this shit

i love these pictures even more knowing the flyers paid specifically to use this flag for gritty
It is under Creative Commons, which is in fact a kind of copyright and requires the work to be copyrighted.
For any use that involves art-making that isn’t being sold, or any non-commercial use, there is a CC (BY-NC-SA) license on the design.

Small creators who want to make profit from work containing the Progress Pride Flag should contact the creator (information at link above) to arrange a license for using the flag. The creator indicates licenses for small creators will be free.
I beg, beg, beg people getting involved in selling their art, or buying art from others, to understand the basics of copyright vs. Creative Commons vs. public domain. The number of people I’ve seen saying “it isn’t copyrighted, it’s under Creative Commons!” (including the creator of the flag!) when that is impossible because that’s not how CC works has been deeply, deeply frustrating, and frankly kinda scary.
Understanding copyright as a creative is like understanding how to operate a seat belt as a driver. It’s absolutely necessary.
