I fucking love the blue star cap quest in New Vegas.
Like, you spend God knows how many hours collecting these fucking caps, only to find out that it’s for an old marketing gimmick that’s utterly worthless to most people, and people have been ruthlessly murdering each other for a toy badge and some company history.
You even find that some other poor bastard did the same thing you’ve been doing only with worse methods, only to suffocate in the treasure vault he sought all this time. His final words lament how his greed was his undoing.
It’s a fantastic post apocalyptic tale of the evils of greed and how it can drive people to do horrible things, and how it can easily be one’s undoing. Truly a great teachable moment… for the other guy. You get his gun, which is one of the best guns in the game. So you face no negative consequences whatsoever and learn nothing.

it’s also hilarious how when you finally collect all of the caps and bring them in for your extremely anticlimactic reward, you automatically fail the quest instead of completing it
