Imperial guard lasguns painted in the Nerf color scheme would be so fucking funny
YOU UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENCE!!!!
I could genuinely believe that this has happened somewhere in M41.
An emergency shipment goes out from a forge world to resupply a Guard regiment fighting on a nearby planet:
-50 tanks
-100 sentinels
-300 light combat vehicles
-5,000 lasguns
-20 2-tonne cases containing all manner of equipment
The regiment receives their supplies, cracks open the transport cases, and it’s all. like. this. Instead of the standard camouflage pattern, the tanks, the sentinels, the guns, everything is painted in an eye-searing yellow and orange reflective paint scheme. It was supposed to be shipped to another battlefield taking place under a blue sun where everything would look white against the stark salt deserts there, but some clerk transposed a 4 and a 7 and instead sent it all to the temperate world.
And there’s no time, literally no time to fix it, everything has to be rolled out as-is. A few desperate crews crack open some paint cans and literally pour forest-green onto some of the vehicles in the hopes that it’ll break up the silhouette enough to make the enemy double-take. They get nicknamed ‘Puke Battalion’ for the spatter patterns it forms as they drive out.
