The 100th time.

Yesterday marked the 100th use of Article 49-3 under the Fifth French Republic. 100 times since 1958. Yesterday was the 10th time it was used by Emmanuel Macron's government—a tenth of all uses—in only six years of reign.

Article 49-3 allows the government to bypass Parliament entirely, preventing any vote from taking place in the National Assembly, considering a law to be adopted unless the government can be impeached through a motion of censorship gathering more than half of the chamber.
