Finished Star Trek’s the Fall.

Some thoughts.

I guess the revelation about Ishan was a bit underwhelming but still expertly handled.

Dr. Crusher will stay on DS9 until a permanent replacement for Bashir can be found. Good.

Speaking of Bashir, although he wasn’t in this volume his actions are still reverberating. He still faces charges and the outcome is far from certain. Dax has been reinstated.

We again come to the core of the Federation, what it means and Starfleet’s role in it. First Strike against aggressive species? Seeking allies rather than pure exploration?

More Tom Riker, on how he’s not Will has weaved a path in and out of darkness.

In the End Picard is going on a long term pure exploration mission while Admiral Riker and Titan remain behind, for now. Also mentioned was that Sisko and Robinson are headed for a similar mission in the GQ. And since the Kira and Taran’atar stories were left hanging after the first volume…

In the end, very enjoyable.
