Tasha and Data and the Wasted Character Development Opportunities.
I just think seeing these two try to negotiate a friendship that acknowledged but didn’t revolve around That Thing They Did would have been interesting and endearing.
I would have loved to see them explore Tasha through her friendships, many of which we only hear about properly in her auto-eulogy. I want (RETROACTIVELY) an episode where Worf has to go and do this Klingon honour quest thing which is, like, totally optional and nobody else understands why he wants to go and do it when it will be dangerous and a pain in the ass and he really doesn’t have to, but Tasha understands why it’s important to him and has done enough research to know that you’re allowed to bring a friend and asks if Worf would let her come with him (it’s important to phrase it this way rather than ‘want me to help you?) and Worf accepts, and they have a hair-raising adventure and successfully complete the quest, and afterwards when they’re waiting to be picked up, all bruised and scratched and pooped but endorphinated, Worf says ‘I think you would have made an excellent Klingon woman’ and Tasha gets all flustered and freaked out because she thinks he wants to be bf/gf and she’s not up for that but fortunately before she can put her foot RIGHT in her mouth Worf says that he would be proud if she were his sister, and Tasha’s heart just turns to warm goo in her chest and she says that would make her really happy too.
And they put two of their bloody scratches together so they can be blood sibs.
I want an episode where Tasha and Riker get into an escalating practical-joke war (this has to somehow involve Riker’s habit of resting his butt on things, e.g. greasing the surface so that he skids off) and get called into Principal Picard’s office and properly told off.
I want an episode where Deanna helps Tasha work through some of her PTSD issues around sex and violence. Also an episode where they solve a mystery together, through the unbeatable combo of Tasha’s tough-cop-ness and Deanna’s intuition and people skills!
I want an episode where Geordi’s obvious crush on Tasha becomes a problem and she has to figure out how to make him understand that it’s not going to happen and he has to figure out that he’s being kind of a dick about it all.
I want an episode in which Data adopts Spot and has trouble figuring out how to take care of them (who knows what Spot’s gender is) so Tasha helps him and this finally relieves the awkwardness between them.
I want an episode in which Tasha becomes increasingly stressed by her job (during the rise of the Borg situation) and slips back to the drug addiction she had years before, and at first Worf covers for her because she’s his sister and his friend but ultimately he has to confront her and say that he won’t do this any more, because it’s dishonourable and it’s actually not helping her, and she has to conquer that addiction all over again and accept that it will always be part of her that she has to guard against.
I want lots of Tasha episodes.
