Geordi, what’s Mad About You?

OH MY GOD THAT PERIOD IN THE 90s WHEN ALL THE NEW YORK SITCOMS WERE TRYING TO BE EXPERIMENTAL AND DID CROSSOVERS WAS SO BIZARRE.

Like, Chandler Bing appeared in an episode of Caroline in the City, FOR NO REASON (i.e. to give a less popular show from the same studio/channel a ratings boost).

Anyone remember Caroline in the City? Anyone?

To be fair, it was trying way too hard.

Also, I believe the whole, entire thing stemmed from the fact that Lisa Kudrow played Ursula in Mad About You just before she got the part of Phoebe in Friends and they were like “Huh! People are likely to notice this. WE’LL JUST TELL EVERYONE THEY’RE TWIN SISTERS.” Shine on, Lisa Kudrow, shine on.

Caroline in the City. I remember it existed, I may even have watched it but I remember nothing of it. That Matthew Perry showed up I’m not surprised, he was also on the John Laroquette Show but not as Chandler which I vaguely do remember.

Mad About You as I recall had Paul Reiser going to Seinfeld’s apartment block looking for him but talking with Kramer instead. You’re right it was all this weird experimental pocket-universe New York but that wall L.A. soundstages.
