Late to the discovery, but I had been wondering where the scene of Blanky swinging in to talk to Francis came from.  Was this version of the scene in the British cut?  Also heard that the dinner scene is different.  I‘m never going to say no to more Blanky, although the dialogue feels a little more like Exposition than in the version with Jopson where Francis’s complaints sound more conversational.  Francis’s comment about putting the food in his ears is more of a joke with Blanky, while he’s wearier when talking to Jopson.

Weird that they didn’t put both versions on the dvd/bluray, but they didn’t give us any extra goodies at all.

Hi I’m op of the video!

The Blanky scene comes from an Amazon Prime version (though I think only in certain countries depends which version you download too). YouTube took down my comparison of the 2 dinner scenes but I’ll show you some screencaps

There’s a few other little differences in the editing too and James doesn’t make the quip about wishing Sir James Ross was here.

My only guess as to why there’s 2 versions is because of timing. The US/DVD version is slightly shorter with these extra moments edited out, which I suppose doesn’t matter on streaming sites. I personally prefer the Amazon version in its entirety, idk it just feels more…complete? I like that you get the additional historical details in James’ sniper story (although I do miss the Ross quip) and I like that Blanky gets a decent introduction in the first scene.
