X-Files S01E01: Daffodils Guy

Who is this dude with the vase of daffodils on his desk?  I MUST KNOW.

After a brisk walk through a hectic office of Serious Business Agents, a setting full of neutrals, suddenly there’s this guy’s desk with fresh yellow flowers brightening up their drab officespace.  Even in the screencap, you can see how much he sticks out.  Furthermore, they’re loosely displayed in a plain vase, not arranged by a professional florist.  Picked from his own garden, his own small way of making his space a happier place?  Picked from someone else’s garden because this is a gift from someone else, someone who knows he’d proudly display his bouquet even though it means sacrificing some of his desk real estate?

Nobody else in the office takes note of Dana’s walk, they’re all too busy working or drinking coffee, but not Daffodils Man.  He notices Scully and Scully notices the flowers.  You can’t ignore those flowers.

AND SHE SMILES AT HIM.

I bet Agent Daffodils wears unconventionally happy socks too.
