I'm not quite sure what happened with these in development but I'm not particularly bothered by it. One of the many things I love about film is the spontaneity of it. You don't always know what you're going to get. I'm sure I could fix these which is another reason I'm not really bothered but I wanted to share them as is, unedited.
When I think of a town for reference when thinking about Nightvale I think about Bakersfield, CA but with more bloodstone circles.
It looks a lot more faded and dusty at ground level
Bakersfield is a liminal space between the worst aspects of urban California and the worst aspects of small-town California. It's like they took the hottest day in August where all you want to do is go swimming but you have to run a bunch of tedious errands you've been putting off, and made a whole city out of that day.
That’s why it’s Nightvale in my brain, basically.
