I love that in the final season of Ashes to Ashes we turn around the concept of isolation that pervades both A2A and LOM by removing the messages from the “outside world.” After her coma-in-a-coma where she was back in the “real world” there is a deafening silence from 2008. No doctors, no pop culture bits, not even any trippy messages from gene. Just static. And the half-faced man. As the final series progresses to the end to we get more and more a sense of the spiritual nature of the place too and Gene’s role in it (and Keats’ too). But as I think it’s either this episode or the next will kind of reveal they’re not the only ones either, and I’m not talking about the Nelson.
