We have to stay here. And there's a simple reason why. Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars.
@kiranerys and I were talking the other day about having the Red Dwarf crew assigned to b5 and where they would fit in.
Rather than have a direct transition into station maintenance I’d have Dave Lister working in the docks. The dockworker’s guild the only reason he’s still employed.
Rimmer would be Garibaldi’s lowest tiered security officer and has had so many transfers: customs., downbelow, waste disposal. after his 10th brush with death (and he’s gotten some of his partners killed) he’s also assigned to the docking bays. “It’s all part of my plan, Listy. One day I’ll get my leather swatch on my uniform.” Rimmer has tried his Space Corps salute on Ivanova. His PPG license has been revoked and he only carries a baton.
Cat is very obviously a Centauri. The most regal uniforms, the fangs, he’s a dandy and a fop with an excess in wealth that keeps receiving….questionable shipments.
Kryten is a Minbari from the reiligious cast, older than Lennier and de facto exiled to B5. No one but Delenn might know why this is, Certainly Kryten doesn’t. He has no real world experience.
Holly is the elevator personality that was voiced by Harlan Ellison but has somehow jumped from there and mostly hangs around the station consoles being Holly.
Kochanski (and I’m thinking of Chloe Annett Kochanski) works in CiC probably in Corwin’s slot on a different shift.
“I never grabbed Pat Tallman’s ass, but I swear to God she was grabbing mine every five minutes. It’s true. And not only that, but whenever I wore the G'Kar chestpiece—the famous chestpiece with all the rippling muscles; give me a break—Peter Jurasik would come over and start doing this pinching to my nipples. And not just one; both of them. It hurt. So one day I fixed him. I came out, and he came rushing over, his fingers twitching, and I had put Band-Aids on there. It didn’t stop him.”

The final conversation with Ivanova and Talia. When Talia says “my good and dear friend Susan” she very, very slightly imitates Londo. Who never means it when he says it. Who is always looking to manipulate and use others for his personal gain.
It’s so subtle. Whoever thought of it is brilliant.
