LOOK. do you realize that sisko helped BUILD her? he helped DESIGN her from the ground up?? do you realize that benjamin sisko’s next posting after the uss saratoga, where the borg killed his wife, was the utopia planitia shipyards to make a prototype ship to fight the borg? do you realize that he took all his love and grief and poured them into a new class of starship?? do you realize that when he took the job on deep space nine he thought he would never care about anything ever again except jake, and then he DID care so so much about bajor and the station and the people on it, and that when the defiant came off the assembly line starfleet gave her to him so that he could protect everyone he now cares about??? do you see? how important this ship is to him?? how their lives are intertwined????
