the liberal conception of politics is legitimately detached from reality

Just like how we all defeated Covid after celebrities sang “Imagine” together.
If you want a reliable source of current information on what is happening with Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, the IAEA itself regularly publishes updates on the IAEA website, and can be found here (https://www.iaea.org/ukraine-conflict) I would really appreciate it if my followers could pass this link to anyone they know who is concerned about Ukraine’s Russian-controlled sites, but doesn’t know a lot about nuclear power/isn’t up to date on the current events. I have already seen quite a lot of misinformation being spread about the loss of power at Chernobyl. While we should all be concerned and on alert, looking out for our friends in Ukraine, there is no need to spread false information based on guesswork. There are facts, and there are opinions. The IAEA is the first authority one should turn to when it comes to concerns about nuclear safety. There are also a lot of resources available on the IAEA website one could read up on without needing much expert knowledge in the field to gain a better understanding of the potential dangers, and to gain a more informed opinion. And if someone has a question about anything, I am always happy to do my best to provide accurate information in my answers, or redirect them to someone more qualified to answer!
I think with everything going on right now it's good to emphasize that the common people of Russia and Russian immigrants should not have to suffer anger for what's happening. I'm seeing reports of performative acts like pouring out Russian vodka in the streets and things of that nature - this helps literally no one and is going to solidify in peoples' minds that *all* Russians are the enemy rather than the Russian government. Focus should be spent on helping the people of Ukraine via donations and other help you can give, not taking out anger on Russian citizens/immigrants that have nothing to do with the situation at hand. I've already seen a shift in the community I live in, which is heavily Russian and Ukrainian. Russian protesters are fighting for their lives out there. Don't forget that.
his 3 fans will be upset
For the Shatner part:
Shatner unapologetically launched an RT America talk show last year, titled I Don’t Understand, despite widespread criticism. In recent days, however, he’s taken to social media to express some solidarity with Ukraine.
In one tweet, which Shatner’s representative said the star wanted to “share” with The Daily Beast, the 90-year-old actor said his “prayers are with the people of the Ukraine” and that the “brave people fighting an overwhelming force” reminds him of Nazis attempting to overthrow Stalingrad in World War II.
Following publication, Shatner provided The Daily Beast with a statement regarding his show’s production and its relationship with RT.
“Ora TV sold the show to RT America. I had no say in the matter. My talk show, ‘I Don’t Understand,’ is purely entertainment and about all the things I don’t understand which is everything because I am at a loss for most things,” he wrote. “It is informative, entertaining and totally, absolutely non-political. My contract for seventy half-hour shows this past year has been with Ora TV. Those seventy shows are in the pipeline and I have no voice in that matter as well.’
Shatner added: “I await with apprehension what will transpire but my total sympathy is with Ukraine. They are the historic change in the world today and I look at them with great admiration and pray that they will emerge victorious.
“As for RT America, my latest information is that all production from Ora TV shows to RT America has been suspended.”
more than 1,000 russians were arrested in protests in 44 cities over the last six hours. some well-known activists were preemptively arrested as they left their house; others were arrested as soon as they unfurled placards. by the looks of it, there were large protests in st. petersburg. over 100 local government officials signed a letter opposing war, and over 170 journalists and intellectual figures signed a similar letter. this is a promising sign, but it’s feeble. as war drags on, protests will grow.
russian civil society is battered and demoralized; its most prominent figures have either been murdered or jailed. i predict that russia will become “totalitarianized” in the coming weeks, with full control over the internet and social media. it isn’t clear how extensive this will be, or how quickly it will happen. already, moscow’s largest theater announced that anyone disrupting the performances to say anything about the war will be arrested for treason. this has severe ramifications for what the postwar occupation of ukraine will look like
1,700 detained in russia, the likely accurate number is north of 2,000. i repeat that what happens in russia domestically is crucial for understanding what will happen next

Solidarity with all our brothers and sisters in Russia who are fighting against war and militarism
