“Hey I think I’ve figured out a way!”
This was actually pretty good, it shifts tones between dark comedy and space opera but it’s still rather enjoyable. You can see what would later influence these guys later on. What’s incredible is that this was initially a student film at first from Carpenter and O'Bannon at USC!

So this happened in the movie:
The Alien beach ball lured this guy to the ship’s lone elevator shaft, pushed up against him in a humping fashion to get him to fall. He didn’t. So the the alien did this:
It tried to *tickle* him into letting go and falling to his doom. I am not making this up. When that didn’t work the alien left the crewmember to get squished by the elevator:
He wasn’t squished.
Seriously what is this movie?!
The beach ball with legs just took the broom and proceeded to slap its captor with it.
This is a beach ball with legs.
This is an alien.
It jumped down.
How will it eat? Do I want to know?
What I’m getting from this is that the crew of the Dark Star is the equivalent of Lister, Rimmer and Cat….
Oh yeah, storage area nine self-destructed last week and destroyed the ship’s entire supply of toilet paper.
