jesus things are moving in this ep, I mean the bug getting discovered early in the ep was bad enough. But it set of a whole chain where Martin had to either turn or kill his fake western girlfriend - which of course ended disastrously - one attempt at letting her drown that he couldn’t go through with, then pulling her in close with declarations of love etc, and then when she realized he really was she fled and got herself killed when his handler guessed where’d she be (somehow) and ran her down with his car.

As if that wasn’t enough the NATO dude she was secretary of is implicated in this whole thing. He’s innocent but he did sleep with said secretary and the bug was under her desk (courtesy of Martin - and that desk was supposed to be in his office but he gave it to her) and he got contacted by East German agents (aka Martin’s aunt) and heavily implied his secretary was the spy. 

After fastidiously cleaning his office and setting everything off he killed himself.

all this is to say I may have low-shouted jesus a couple of times.

Meanwhile the Stasi is stumped by the 5 1/4″ floppy because their machines only take the larger 8″ ones, and Reagan has an electronics embargo on the east so they have to figure out how either build one or get their hands on the right computer.

Our amateur spy meets with his handler in a gas station at the West German/Belgian border while his General’s in the station bathroom relieving himself. 

Although so far all the handler’s done is draw blood to see if he’s a match for his mother’s kidney transplant - trying to look as inconspicuous as possible while inside of his handler (who’s his aunt’s) car hoping this finishes before the general comes back out
