Phantom Corsair, 1938. Designed by Rust Heinz of the H. J. Heinz family and Maurice Schwartz of the Bohman & Schwartz coachbuilding company in Pasadena, California. The Corsair is maybe the ultimate example of retro-futurism. The Corsair was to be produced in limited numbers as the 1930s equivalent of today’s hypercars (selling for $12,000 in 1938, equal to roughly $200,000 now) but Heinz’s death in a car accident ended the project and the prototype remained a one-off
