ATTENTION TEXAS VOTERS!

justsomeantifas

🚨🚨If you voted in Harris County, your ballot is at risk of being purged! 🚨🚨

Last, week the state GOP attempted to block all votes that have been cast through curbside voting. The Texas Supreme Court allowed the votes to continue to be accepted HOWEVER, the request is now moving forward to the  federal courts and there’s a very good chance these votes will be blocked on the night before Election Night.

So far, there have been 100,000 ballots cast this way in Harris County!

(HERE IS THE COURT NEW FILING)

Follow the court decision, which will be decided Monday (Nov. 2nd), if this judge rules with the Texas GOP and if you are a Harris County voter that voted curbside YOU WILL HAVE TO GO RECAST YOUR VOTE IN PERSON BECAUSE YOU WILL BE PURGED.

Voter suppression is on the rise. Again. And unsurprisingly, it’s Republicans who are doing it.

I would like to point out that, this isn’t Russia doing this. It isn’t China. These aren’t Russian bots. These are Republican politicians and the disproportionately white voters who very reliably support their draconian policies.

In the 2016 election Republican legislators enacted racist voter ID laws, then they closed down driver’s license offices near black communities so that the required ID was harder to get, they closed down record numbers of polling places in black neighborhoods, they used the Supreme Court to gut the Voting Rights Act, they purged thousands of eligible, legally registered black people from voter rolls, they used gerrymandering to dilute the vote of black people, and Republicans continue to use mass incarceration as another indirect means of voter suppression.

I’ve said it before and Imma keep on saying it: Republicans are a bigger threat to progress, social justice and democracy than any foreign power could ever hope to be.

François Legault's CAQ has the edge as Quebec provincial election approaches
The Coalition Avenir Québec likely would win a majority if an election were held today
cbc.ca
allthecanadianpolitics

The polls say François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec is in a strong position to defeat Philippe Couillard’s Liberals in the upcoming provincial election.

But there are nearly eight weeks to get through before Quebecers actually cast their ballots. Where they stand today is not necessarily where they’ll be when they head into the voting booths on Oct. 1 — and the best way to follow the ebbs and flows of the campaign will be the CBC’s Quebec Poll Tracker, which launches today.

With 34.8 per cent current support in the Poll Tracker — an aggregation of all publicly available polls weighted by date, sample size and pollsters’ track records — the CAQ holds a five-point lead over the Liberals, who follow with 29.7 per cent.

The Parti Québécois under Jean-François Lisée trails at a distance in third place, with just 17 per cent — closer to Québec Solidaire’s 10.7 per cent support than it is to the second-place Liberals.

Another 7.8 per cent of Quebecers say they will vote for a different party, such as the provincial Conservatives, New Democrats or Greens.

CAQ: a (Quebecois) Nationalist, Social Conservative, Austerity party.

Quebec, please don’t do this to yourselves.  Don’t vote for fewer social services, fewer civil rights, and more racism.  Please, take it from an Ontarian anglophone.  It’s not helping us, and it won’t help you.

Please read if you’re voting in the California Primary

If you’re registered to vote in California for the Democratic primary please check your voter status here

Many people are starting to discover that they’ve registered with the American Independent Party (AIP) instead of an actual independent on their voter registartion. The AIP is the third largest party in California, but instead of being a standard independent status for voting purposes, the party is affiliated with right-wing politics and isn’t an actual independent status.

But most importantly, if you’re registered as an AIP affiliate, you cannot vote in the California primary on June 7th

Most people have registered with the party in error, as many as 500,000 people could be excluded from the Democratic Primary, so please check your voter status if you registered as an independent

You only have until May 23rd to fix this error

Don’t let this be another New York scandal, check the status of your voter registration before it’s too late

148km

California has a modified closed primary, so please make sure you know how that will affect which ballot you can receive if you intend(ed) to register without a party preference!

Yesterday, Bill Clinton’s stumping for his wife in New Hampshire took on an angry tone, and his attacks on Bernie Sanders became very antagonistic. In doing so, he clarified for all of us that the era of Clinton as a liberal hero are coming to a conclusive end.

Accusing Sanders of fiscal ineptitude, blatant hypocrisy, and of encouraging “vicious trolling and attacks” online, Clinton went as dark as any Republican, and with just as much dignity. Exaggerating the fault of the DNC data breach earlier in the campaign, Clinton suggested that Sanders campaign looted information and then feigned innocence. Never mind that the individual responsible was recommended by the DNC and summarily fired by the Sanders campaign. Clinton was as “fair and balanced” as Bill O’Reilly in his comments, a far cry from the erudite champion of Democrats we once thought he was.

Of course, Bill Clinton was just part of the chorus. Madeleine Albright and Gloria Steinem, of all people, made accusations of sexism and hormonal determinism against Sanders’ supporters just days earlier. Albright, Clinton’s former Secretary of State, said “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other,” and complained that some young women “don’t understand the importance of why young women have to support Hillary Clinton.” The supposition that ONLY Hillary Clinton should be the first woman President is questionable, to say the least, but the transparent shaming intended to bully young women supporting Sanders to reconsider their choice is Megyn-Kelly-style rhetoric.

Not to be outdone, Steinem, appearing on Real Time with Bill Maher, said young women supporting Bernie Sanders are “thinking, where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie…”

Hillary and her big name supporters have not only brought the campaign down to Republican strategy levels, but they’ve ruined the reputations of three heretofore well-respected liberal public figures. Yes, ruined.

Gloria Steinem sort of walked that back, but I read her “my remarks were misinterpreted” statement as a typical non-apology “I’m sorry that you were offended” rather than, “I really fucked up and I would like to retract what I said.” But I know that she wasn’t speaking to me, so I leave it to others to decide.

But this, from the author, has been bouncing around in my head this weekend, too:

The supposition that ONLY Hillary Clinton should be the first woman President is questionable, to say the least, but the transparent shaming intended to bully young women supporting Sanders to reconsider their choice is Megyn-Kelly-style rhetoric.

There’s much more at the link.
